This is SpectralIllumination.com, my website to showcase my photography. I'm Amanda, and I live on a little farmstead in the middle of suburbia in Wisconsin. Besides photography, my main passion is reading. I'm an omnivorous reader of all genres, but I'm most fond of non-fiction, especially travel, nature, and science books. My favorite authors include Joseph Conrad, W. Somerset Maugham, William Least-Heat Moon, Paul Theroux, and Brian Greene. I have many hobbies, including thrift store shopping, genealogy, sending postcards through
Postcrossing, and nature walks.
While I'm mainly interested in nature photography, I'm willing to take pictures of different things all the time. I'm currently trying to figure out indoor/low light photography, which usually involves messing with the settings on my camera until I get it right! My most recent obsession is with
Instagram and Hipstamatic. I came into the smartphone game late, and have only recently got myself an ipad, so this is all new to me!
I enjoy the amazing detail and beauty, along with the grandeur of nature. Photographs can capture all these details that Mother Nature gives us. In my opinion, Wisconsin delivers such varying extremes of temperature and weather that it is a prime place to capture nature forever in photographs.
My current camera is a Nikon D3000 DSLR, which I am very fond of. A newer camera and new lenses will come someday, but this camera works just fine for me! I am interested in many facets of photography, but my dream is to own digi-scoping equipment to take photographs of birds and other wildlife.
